Welcome to the new look website

There is still some work to do, but after much hard work and head scratching, the new look website is here. Most of the previous content is still available, although some of the pages may have moved, and we are still porting over that last of the legacy content.

ISTC Members

There is no longer a unique area for Members. When you login to the website all of the Members Only content is automatically available in the main menu on the left.

You can login using your existing credentials, and you can edit your own details by clicking your name in the bar at the top of the website.

If you find any issues, missing content, or broken links, please let me know.

Accredited Courses

The ISTC is pleased to announce that it has accredited two technical authoring courses. This means the materials have been through a thorough review process and that the ISTC is happy with both the quality of the materials and the content of the course. For more information see the List of Accredited Courses.

Communicator goes online

From January 2012, the ISTC is pleased to announce that their quarterly printed journal, Communicator can now be purchased as a PDF.

For further information about subscribing to Communicator see the Communicator page of the website and the subscriptions section. If you’re a member, you already have access to Communicator PDFs in the Communicator archives.

Communicator regularly includes: articles by some of the top 10 technical communication bloggers; articles on case studies, writing, indexing, translation, localisation, illustration and more; regular columns on ethical dilemmas, international standards, editing and more.

Katherine Judge, Commissioning Editor said “This is an excellent opportunity to broaden the number of subscribers we have as well as increasing our audience.”

We’re happy to receive feedback and welcome all suggestions for improvement.

After three very successful years at venues in the Midlands and the South-East of England, the Technical Communication UK conference (TCUK) is heading North for 2012. “We’re delighted to announce that TCUK 2012 will be at the Marriot Gosforth Park Hotel in Newcastle, from 2nd to 4th October 2012,” David Farbey, Chair of TCUK 2012, said today. “This is an impressive venue with excellent conference facilities,” said David. “Choosing a venue in the North of England emphasises our commitment to serve the technical communication community throughout the UK. We’re looking forward to a really great event next October.”

The call for papers for TCUK 2012 will be published in January. In the meantime, anyone interested in volunteering to join the organistation team for TCUK 2012, or any organisation interested in being a sponsor for the event, is invited to get in touch by email.
