The ISTC has launched, and is hosting, Technical Communication UK as a replacement for its annual ISTC Conference that has been running for 14 years. The goal of this new event is to address the needs of technical communicators, their managers and clients - from all corners of the industry. The event is not about the ISTC or for the ISTC. It is to benefit its individual members, technical communicators who don’t happen to be members, and the wider industry.
Technical Communication UK 2009 will be held at Eastwood Hall, near Nottingham (same as 2008) from Tuesday 22nd to Thursday 24th September.

A major focus for the ISTC in 2008 is Continuing Professional Development. We recognize the need to undertake annual CPD to extend and update our skills to retain a competitive skill set. To this end, we have opened a CPD section in the Members Area, with links to CPD providers and discounted CPD courses.
The ISTC Discussion Group has produced some thoughts about style, intended as an overview to the subject. It is the thoughts of the discussion group and not a definitive set of standards. These thoughts can be found in the Resources area.
