Technical communication training
It is with sadness that the ISTC acknowledges the passing of John Crossley. John formed and ran The College of Technical Authorship. Since his passing, the ISTC has acquired the rights to continue delivering his courses. They now form the basis of the ISTC Open Learning course. Click here to read more about John Crossley.
The
course is designed for: individuals with a technical or scientific background
who wish to take up technical authorship as a second career; recent graduates
in science and technology who wish to develop their communication skills;
humanities and business studies graduates who have an interest in specialised
knowledge. Applications from individuals without formal degree-level qualifications
are welcome.
'Technical' is defined in terms of a wide variety
of fields, ranging from aerospace engineering, cellular communications, electronics,
the pharmaceutical and the software industry on the one hand, to the banking,
financial services, national and local government and health sectors on the
other.

- Writing to Inform
- Writing to Persuade
- Psychology of Communication
- Oral Communication
- Professional Aspects of Technical Communication
- Technical Translation
- Project (with a local or regional company).

practical and pragmatic approaches to writing in technical and business contexts.
